CHECKPOINT SITE ACCESS CONTROL AND CHECKPOINT PERFORMANCE & COMMERCIAL EVENT LOG REPORTING
SUMMARY
The project involves the electrification of approximately 74 single track kilometres of the rail network in
the central belt of Scotland, connecting onto the existing 25kV OLE network at Holytown Junction, in the
west and Mid-Calder Junction, in the east. Power modelling has taken place and proposed the optimum
HV distribution solution for the scheme.
CHECKPOINT SITE ACCESS CONTROL
The client requested a full Site Access Control service using the Checkpoint Site Access Control and Performance Management System.
The Site Access Controller was responsible for signing personnel in and out of site either face to face or from the supervisor over the phone, conducting PPE checks, signing in/out equipment, briefing personnel etc.
Site Access Controllers are also responsible for being the point of contact between the project and the site, taking calls from supervisors of various projects, logging all activities occurring on site, reporting accidents/incidents/close calls, escalating issues to on call supervisors or health and safety managers.
Site Coordinators were responsible for liaising with various parties including Project Managers, Engineering Supervisors, Controllers of Site Safety, Site Managers, Signallers and Network Rail Control, Project Control and Emergency Services.
All performance and production information was collated and fed back to the project management teams.
ADDED VALUE
CLEAR VISIBILITY OF PROJECTS AND EMERGING TRENDS
Both Network Rail and SPL Powerlines benefited from having a complete overview of planned v actual for works, any accidents or incidents, and a view of all personnel signing in and out of the worksite. This allowed the teams to work collaboratively in working to rectify emerging trends and increase productivity.
WHAT OUR CLIENT SAID
We have found the information extremely useful. Checkpoint has highlighted key trends and issues that wouldn’t have been captured by construction managers.
