OUR ROLES

CHECKPOINT SITE ACCESS CONTROL AND CHECKPOINT PERFORMANCE & COMMERCIAL EVENT LOG REPORTING

SUMMARY

SDA was part of the Scottish Government’s strategic investment to electrify central Scotland’s railway which encompassed Grangemouth through Falkirk and Stirling to Dunblane and Alloa.

CHECKPOINT SITE ACCESS CONTROL

The client requested a full Site Access Control service on behalf of Costain using the Checkpoint Site Access Control and Performance Management System. For the project, we provided a 24 hour 365 days a year Control service. The Site Access Controller was responsible for signing personnel in and out of site either face to face or from the supervisor over the phone, conducting PPE checks, signing in/out equipment, briefing personnel etc.
Site Access Controllers are also responsible for being the point of contact between the project and the site, taking calls from supervisors of various projects, logging all activities occurring on site, reporting accidents/incidents/close calls, escalating issues to on call supervisors or health and safety managers. Site Coordinators were responsible for liaising with various parties including Project Managers, Engineering Supervisors, Controllers of Site Safety, Site Managers, Signallers and Network Rail Control, Project Control and Emergency Services. All performance and production information was collated and fed back to the project management teams.

ADDED VALUE

CHECKPOINT COMMERCIAL EVENT LOG REPORTING

The Commercial Event Log Reporting was used to record all project activity, planned versus actual for site works, productivity trend analysis and reporting, maximising project efficiency gains, assigning time loss codes for specific events. This was key in delivering substantial savings exceeding £40m and giving 24/7 visibility to the project management and commercial teams.

WHAT OUR CLIENT SAID

We used Checkpoint on 2 of our largest projects in Scotland, namely the Edinburgh to Glasgow Improvement Programme, and Stirling, Dunblane & Alloa.

Checkpoint’s Commercial Event Log gave us the ability to maximise the productivity of our projects and gave us clear visibility of who was working on our site, planned work versus actual, and attributed time loss.

We were able to identify trends early, and work with our client to make the project more efficient.
