ABOUT CHECKPOINT AUTHORITY
Development began in 2019 following our consultancy role on the Edinburgh to Glasgow project and has since become a key innovation in the UK rail industry.

OVERVIEW OF THE APP

Securely Grant Authority, Sign Out & ES Changeover:
2 stage security required to grant authority and request to sign out.
ES must acknowledge IWA/COSS request to sign out before they can sign out.
Securely perform ES changeover for blockades, whilst adhering to the Rulebook.
Checkpoint I.D.
Checkpoint ID is our identification and verification system that uses Sentinel Number, Mobile
Number and Worksite Reference Number to verify individuals looking to sign into worksites.
Start Work Simultaneously:
Reduces pressure on contractors. Reduces pressure on hand back. Reduces pressure on the ES.
Extend and Shorten Worksites:
Allow personnel to safely sign in to extended limits and acknowledge when limits are due to be shortened.
Broadcast Emergency Communications to All Staff:
Broadcast communications sent at the same time.
Highlight potential safety issues i.e catch-pit lid missing or run-away risk – all in “live” time.
Live View of Personnel:
Quick view of personnel signed in/out to site
Personnel update ‘live’ as they sign in/out.
The ES can see at a glance who is still signed in – no need to search through all the paperwork.
Control Centre Overview
Checkpoint Control Centre
PC Sites - Super Users trained by Checkpoint to manage their own system administration with support through the shift from the Control Centre. Technical support for Super Users or ES’s throughout the shift. Control Centre Verify new users and add to the system.
How will we manage change (late notice) to possessions and late notice resource/key personnel?
Control Centre or Super Users can manage any late change to worksites and personnel. Worksites can be added by the Control Centre or Super Users and late resource or key personnel changes can be verified on Sentinel and added to the system. Non PC sites / smaller sites – Checkpoint ID has been created for users to self register and verify their details. Checkpoint Control can provide system administration. Control Centre available for sites with Super Users / Duty Managers - Operational 2 hours before each worksite.
Reporting Overview
Sign in Activity Reports
Reports generated to show activity, times on/off site and more.
Time Loss Reports
Reports available to show where time was lost i.e. late running train, weather, staff shortage.
All Data and Communications Logged
The ability to give (and record) safety critical communications to personnel i.e points numbers and position to be moved, trains approaching level crossings or authority for machines/train movements. All logged in typed form so no mis-communication or ambiguity.
Period by Period Dashboards
Identify trends and use the data to inform future forecasting, benchmarking and tenders.

DEVELOPMENT TIMELINE & CAPABILITIES
Our checkpoint suite of software is modular
in design which allows the roll out of our
systems in small, controlled packages.
This allows us to gradually expand over
time, building a strong foundation before
scaling up – minimising risk, benefiting
from lessons learned before strategically
increasing operations.
An example of this being checkpoint
authority bolt ons (RT3199 and line clear
verification forms)
With pipeline projects including
Checkpoint OLP authority
